In early August, we had some return visitors from Texas and we were pretty stoked to see our friends!

Tyler and Hunter (very Texas names) have been to Bay View previously, and even had the very same guide in their previous outing. We remembered them as soon as we saw them of course! From our perspective, the boys were a bit taller and stronger, but we never forget a face.

From their perspective, all was ‘in order’ as they remembered it… they had the same gear, same zip line guide, and all was to their approval. They were quick to point out that the tad poles now swimming in Bay View’s water features were new though. We said we tried to get ahold of them for the meeting regarding this decision…

We all remember that time in our lives when we were “just barely” too small for something… be it a ride on a roller coaster, or getting picked for big brother’s football team. Our friends Lindsey and Allison (with a combined weight of a potato sack) told us they run into that problem often. But we had good news for them… for Oahu’s only zipline, they were the perfect size!

Here’s a pic of Lindsey way out in front of Grandpa Ron. The whole family had a great time with us, and you too will join us for a day of fun with family and friends.

For the past few months, the guys and girls of HEARTS (Hawaii Education of the ARTS) have been rehearsing for their upcoming performance of the classic play “Annie”. The rehearsal area is adjacent to our staging area for ziplines, meaning our guests have been treated to singing and tap dancing while gearing up!

The cast occasionally take their breaks over here at Bay View Mini-Putt and Zipline, trading their tap shoes for zipline gear. We think watching everyone have so much fun on the zipline is just too tempting!

The show is at the Paliku Theatre at Windward Community College in Kaneohe from July 20-21 and July 26-28. Take it from us, the cast sounds great, and the show will be one to remember. We’ve even learned a few tunes ourselves as a result of our new neighbors, but so far no roles have been offered to Bay View employees…

The 4th of July brought many visitors looking to gain independence from the ground!

We have a tough time calling what we do “work.” After all, is it really work to hang out in a treehouse all day, with gorgeous views and great weather, zipping the day away? If you had to call it work, it’s the best job in the world!

Recently, the best job in the world got a little easier thanks to a visit from our friend Grant, who is 6’10″ tall. You see, we usually use step stools to assist guests with getting attached (and unattached) to their zipline trolleys. With Grant, there was no need! Thanks for the break Grant!

Heidi and Johnny came out today to celebrate Heidi’s birthday. They were married on Oahu 12 years ago and made the move to be Hawaii residents 2 years ago. They are taking advantage of all of the fun things to do in the Aloha State and added Bay View Zipline to that list for Heidi’s birthday. How did they hear about Bay View Mini-Putt and Zipline? They saw us on Ice Loves Coco! Next stop for these two, Kapalua Adventures!

We were visited by sisters Bria and Mariah as they celebrated Bria’s graduation with honors. Way to go Bria! The two were joined by other family members who were on hand to shoot photos and cheer them on from below.

Graduating with honors is a tremendous accomplishment, and we congratulate Bria for all her hard work. But hold on… with sister Mariah just one year behind Bria in school, we have a feeling we’ll be seeing these two again next year, this time celebrating Mariah’s graduation. It sounds like a pretty good tradition to us!

Best of luck to both girls in their future academic endeavors… and here’s a tip from Oahu’s only zipline: aim high! When it comes to your goals and dreams… there’s nothing wrong with having your head high in the clouds!

When you’re a fan, you tend to follow in your favorite star’s footsteps. The place to do this is surely Hollywood, where you can snap a picture next to your favorite actor’s star on the walk of fame; or sit in the same booth that “Dean and the boys” sat in at one of the local lounges.

But did you know that you can also soak up a bit of the “famous life” here in Oahu? It’s true! From NFL stars to Hollywood actors, we’ve seen them all come through and hangout at Oahu’s only zipline!

This week we had the (not so famous) Johnson family visit us from California. They were excited to ride after seeing Bay View Mini-Putt and Zipline featured on the E! channel’s hit TV show “Ice Loves Coco.” Their brush with fame included getting to meet Grant, Ice and Coco’s personal zipline guide, as well as use some of the gear that the stars themselves used while they visited. Pretty neat!

But famous or not, we want to see YOU here as well! Enjoying the nice weather, gorgeous views, and the sheer fun of ziplining on Oahu is a great way to spend any day.

With the weekend upon us, its time to think about FUN! So what are you going to do this weekend? We would love to see you, your friends and your family at Bay View Mini-Putt and Zipline.

We had all 15 members of the Grzeskowiak family take over the park and zipline today. Ranging from 8-75 years old, they all had a blast! We just love it when big groups come and zip with us for special occasions – they are a source of great energy and excitement in the park. This particular family was here to celebrate a wedding anniversary.

So thanks to the Grzeskowiak family for coming out! We’d also like to wish a “happy anniversary” to Daniel and Barbara… we’re glad we could host your family for a day of fun and togetherness!

We are the first zip line on the island of Oahu, and we’re a hidden treasure! Located in Kaneohe, high in the tree tops, our zip line spans over 36 holes of mini-putt, and overlooks the water of Kaneohe Bay. This 400-foot+ zip line has 2 lines running side-by-side to allow riders to race!

We understand we are located outside of Waikiki, but we think that makes this experience even better… it’s your excuse to get out of town and see something different! We’re (kinda) famous! Well, not as famous as some of our recent guests, but hey you have to start somewhere!

Flanked by their television crew, we were visited by the infamous celebrity pair Ice T and Coco. You might recognize them from their most recent endeavor, a TV show called “Ice Loves Coco.” However fame is nothing new for these two. Ice has produced music and acted in other TV shows and movies; while Coco has been a model and spokesperson for many years.

The zipline adventure was part of a Hawaiian getaway, and was surprisingly a bit nerve racking! Coco loved the fact that she and Ice were doing something fun and exciting, and although a little nervous at first, she ended up loving every minute of the experience. Ice was as cool as a cucumber as usual…

We really enjoy it when people from all walks of life – not just celebrities, visit us at Oahu’s only zipline. Sharing the things we love with others truly makes this a great place!

Ever “look up” to your favorite sports heroes as a kid? Well we’ve added a new meaning to that phrase… by having some of the NFL’s finest athletes flying high above our heads on Oahu’s only zipline course! With the Pro Bowl in town last week, gridiron guests were all around the island – and a few came to visit us at Bay View Mini Putt and Zipline for a day of fun family activities. From the Carolina Panthers we had Steve Smith, David Gettis, Seyi Ajirotutu, Brandon LaFell, and Kealoha Pilares. From “Da Bears” we had QB Josh McCown.

Everyone loves the feeling of speed and excitement that only comes from a zipline ride. We were happy to show these guys what fun zipling on Oahu can be… and look forward to our chance to show YOU! So the next time you’re in our neighborhood, stop by and give it a try yourself! You never know, you might find yourself next to a famous athlete (or six)!

During the new year, we find that a lot of people make resolutions to get over certain fears. Some folks are petrified of spiders, while others are frozen solid when it comes to heights. We think it is wise to work towards alleviating these fears, because life is just too darn short to be scared! And while Oahu’s only zip line can’t help with your arachnophobia, we can certainly help you get used to heights!

But what good is getting over a fear if you can’t have fun doing it? For someone afraid of heights, going to the top of a building and just standing there must be awful! But standing atop a treehouse, with a zip line ride as your reward for ‘taking the leap’… now that’s a different story. We’re believers in positive reinforcement, and a zip line ride overlooking gorgeous Kaneohe Bay just might be the thing. After a zip line ride, it’s quite possible that your fear of heights will be replaced with a positive association – gliding effortlessly through the sky, with a gorgeous view, and a big smile on your face!

We understand why most people take a few days off during the holidays. Whether it’s to get away from the computer, wear something other than a stuffy suit, or go a few days without shaving the beard… the holidays definitely offer a break from the daily grind, and a welcome one at that.

But that’s only if you view your daily grind with distaste.

For us, our daily grind isn’t a “grind” at all. We wake up each day feeling lucky, and we can’t wait to get to work. You would too if your “office” included a treehouse overlooking the Pacific Ocean!

Someone once said “Do what you love, and you’ll never work another day in your life”. We couldn’t agree more.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we’ve taken a moment to reflect on the things we are thankful for. Friends and family naturally top the list, however being able to do what we love for a living follows close behind. Whether you consider it a good thing or not, much of our daily life revolves around work; so we feel it’s important to create a work environment that is fun, low-stress, and does people good. At Bay View Mini-Putt and Zipline, we’re 3-for-3 on that checklist!

It’s true – here at Oahu’s only zipline, we are truly thankful we get to work at a place that gives people happiness. You may not know it, but the smile that stays on your face after you zip is contagious. And those yelps of joy you belt as you travel down the zip line – they’re often the highlight of our day! Hearing how happy you are while visiting our zipline and mini-putt park is music to our ears. But then there are also those quiet times – when we’re standing atop the platform overlooking the gorgeous Pacific Ocean which sparkles in the afternoon sun. It’s during these times that we also appreciate how lucky we are to be surrounded by so much beauty.

We would like to offer our humble advice to all: find something you love, and turn it into your livelihood. Doing so will set you up for days filled with joy and fulfillment! You’ll end up happier, healthier, and waking up each day excited to get to the office. That’s what each of us have done at Oahu’s only zipline, and we couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. We hope this Thanksgiving finds you surrounded by friends, family, and all the things that bring happiness into your life!

A visit from Circle City Harley-Davidson
We have to hand it to the motorcycle crowd. With bandannas, leather vests and loud engines, they have a visual presence that is infinitely “tougher” than that of the zip line crowd. (We guess hiking boots and granola bars just don’t send the same message!). But it is often the case that beneath even the toughest exterior, you’ll find an inner child with a heart of gold. We found this out first-hand when we hosted a company party for Circle City Harley-Davidson.

The group had not planned on riding the zip line, but we just had to let them try it. After all, the thrill of speed speaks to both bikers and zippers alike! And who can pass up a discount for groups of 10 or more? So one by one they started to volunteer. All in all we had 15 bikers giving it a whirl on our zip line! Even Sunil and Naomi, (the members of the group that were most decidedly against zip lining) gave in and had a ride. We think it was just too tempting to sit there and watch the others have all the fun!

We smiled as we watched the group laughing and cheering for each other. We imagined that the thrill of zip lining might in some way remind the group of the thrill they get when they ride their motorcycles. Many of the same elements are there – the rush of the wind, the feeling of freedom, and of course that pure happiness that comes only from that special place within. So take a lesson from these Harley guys – next time you’re in a new situation like they were, use the opportunity to strip away all distractions, and allow your inner child – the one that’s inside all of us – to roam free!

Sometimes when you try something new, you might find it fun and novel, but won’t feel hooked by the need to do it again. Kinda like “ok been there done that”. Other times, the experience is totally different: You suddenly find that you are totally hooked after just one try and can’t wait to do it again and again!

We found the latter to be the case early Thursday morning when we were visited by 7 friends from Palm Springs. (Hi Mark, Paul, Edwin, John, Laura, Pete, and Christine!). They had been excited about their trip to Hawaii for months now, and knew before even getting to the islands that they wanted to ride zip lines – we were happy to oblige!

The friends spent the morning whooping and cheering as they rode our 400+ foot zip line overlooking beautiful Kaneohe Bay. The cool ocean air and the view of the blue pacific ocean was a wonderful experience for them all, and they ended up riding over and over. But it was John and Laura who were bitten by the ‘zip line bug’ the most. Immediately they wanted to know if there were more zip lines on Maui, where they were headed next. Of course there is! So we hooked them up with our Maui zip line location, Kapalua Adventures – and by now we imagine they are counting the days until their Maui zip line tour.

We love it when people get “hooked” on zip line tours. As card-carrying zip line fanatics ourselves, we know the feeling. Hope all of you visit us here on Oahu or at our Maui location to see what we mean… you might just find you’ve become zip lining’s newest fan!

Our Oahu zip line location is the perfect destination for group outings of any kind! We see all types of groups from all walks of life enjoying our park on a daily basis. You might think groups of unruly teens might turn the place upside down once in awhile, but it’s actually the 50 to 70 year old crowd you have to watch out for!

Last week we had a blast zip lining with a group of 14 wonderful ladies, who among them had an average age of 61. As you can imagine, this group could not be contained. One gal screamed just about the whole way down the zip line, with the others cheering and waving most jovially. They raced each other, clapped and laughed loudly, and pretty much took over the park… it was wonderful!

A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to work with a Make-A-Wish Foundation and grant a special wish for a child. The Wish: To feel the exhilaration, speed, and pure joy of riding a zip line. To be a part of this experience was incredible, and served to remind us all of what’s truly important in life.

Our ‘wisher’ was a young boy who is blind. Immediately we knew what a special experience this was going to be, because above the sights and sounds of zipping, it is the feeling of zipping that is the most powerful – and we knew this child would feel it in ways we couldn’t even imagine. One might guess that such an experience to a blind person might be scary – as it is unknown or unfamiliar. But that is a rather incorrect assumption. After watching this young child zip gleefully through the air, we learned that life itself is a giant leap of faith, or a journey into the unknown. Sometimes we can’t “see” what lies ahead of us in the future, so we have two options: Turn around and go back to what is known or familiar, or push ourselves forward and open up a new world of possibility. The results of the latter are truly gratifying and should serve as inspiration to us all.

So the next time you find yourself faced with the unknown, take a lesson from this child. Remember that life takes risk, and sometimes we truly don’t know what lies ahead. But that should never stop us – because when we find the strength to move forward we learn new things, feel new feelings, and find new joys that we otherwise might have missed out on, had we not been so brave. So be sure to Zip on!

Have you ever been so scared of something that it took you awhile to work up the courage to try it? Sure you have – we’ve all been there.

But it is indeed these times – when we are scared or frightened – that we find our inner strength. We take that first step, or leap, and just go for it – despite our fears. And in the end, we discover ‘it wasn’t so bad’ after all. Heck, you might even call it a piece of cake!

Today we were reminded of this powerful life lesson when we were visited by 10-year old Kayleigh and her family. At first, she was certain she did not want to ride the zip line, but instead opted to watch older brother Ryley have a go. After seeing how much fun Ryley had on his first run, Kayleigh thought she might have a look from the top of the platform… but no promises on riding.

So as Ryley took off on his second zip line ride, Kayleigh gave it some good thought, but again opted not to ride. It took a third ride from Ryley, and some assurance that it was SUPER fun – (not just regular fun) – to convince her to go.

And so with courage in her heart, young Kayleigh geared up, grabbed hold, and away she went! Eye-witness reports vary, but it has been said that her smile could be seen all the way across the bay by passing boaters! When she landed, the only thing she could do was plead with her mother for a second ride.

And so there we have it… a lesson learned, a fear conquered, and a new ‘zipper’ joins the club. Who knows what’s next for Kayleigh now… today it’s conquering zip lines, and tomorrow it’s on to even greater things – just after Ryley tries it first.
